tuner quest!

Anyone have a pecking order of quality between these?

Kluson (repro or vintage)
Gotoh
Ping
Wilkinson
... others?

I am only talking vintage style slotted post tuners.

I have vintage Klusons on some guitars and many of them are not that great.



Yes I bought the tuners for my current pinecaster from Callaham, I was buying other stuff from them and I figured if I bought tuners somewhere else I would just use up any money saved in a separate shipping charge.

The vintage ones *sound* the best. When you say your vintage ones are not that great I am assuming that they are stiff but from a *sound* stand point try to do an A/B comparison with the repro stuff which has nylon bushings and the vintage which is all metal inside ... I did and found that the vintage tuner transferred an excellent CLEAR and distinct sound to the neck as compared to a duller indistinct sound of the repro (Gotoh if I remember correctly).
