i just received a brandnew dano tunamelt tremolo-pedal. that cute little thing sounds fantastic! überlush so to say. even has a protection thing added. so you can not kick the tiny little pots away too easy. i have the slight fear, that it sounds better than my boss. for 27 eurobucks, you can not go wrong.

I got one a couple of weeks ago, and I really like it. Does exactly what it's supposed to and sounds great. Picked it up used at a small local shop for $18.

i just a-b checked the thing on comparison with the boss. both sound good. but the boss stays in my liveboard, because of a much better chassis. i stomp on it all the time, and i guesss that will kill the tunamelt soon. other than that: wowowowo! now i have a pretty good copy of my liverig in the livingroom for homeuse at a very good price.

I've had a Tuna Melt on my board for almost two years with no problems. I figured it's cheap and if I kill it, I'll just get another one. But it's held up. And it really is a great sounding trem box.

My wife gave me a Tuna Melt for Christmas seven years ago, and I love it! I even tried to replace it recently(in the name of an "upgrade," but really just a GAS attack), but couldn't find anything that I liked better in my price range. It's held up great.

I've gigged two for the last 7 years. Only reason the first one died is because I dropped into an open drain! It got a bit wet, but stil worked for a few months before giving up the ghost. The second one has been gigged weekly for the last 4 years. I'm not a heavy stomper, but I don't even use the protector. Very cool pedal - often the only pedal (besides a TU2 tuner) that I take to a gig. Tried a few high enders but remain happy with the Dano.

I have one, too, love the sound, but it does have a bit of a volume drop when turning it on...

Interesting you should say that. Mine appears to give a little volume boost when it's on.

And yeah, it's a great little unit. Picked it up for $25 a couple of years ago. For some reason every time I think about reconfiguring my board I think about retiring it, but there's a couple of places in my set that would be seriously diminished if I didn't have it. So it always stays.

I used the Tuna Melt on one song last weekend. We covered Alabama's "Lady Down on Love". The keyboard played alone for the first verse, and then I joined in with tremolo'ing chords. People stopped what they were doing and looked at the stage when I started playing. Something about the tremolo against the organ sound was just heavenly.

Stand alone, the Tuna Melt is okay. But man, what it does in the mix is really the bee's knees.

Back when the minis first came out, I scored a Tuna Melt, a French Toast, and a Surf & Turf...

I also wanted a Pepperoni - it dounded as good as a Phase 90, or Small Stone to me.

The Surf & Turf was quickly traded away. Nice pedal, but comps just aren't my thing.

I still have the French Toast and love it. It rivals fuzz octaves that cost 4 times more. Considering that the RI'd Tone Machines are 2 bills and also made of plastic, I'll stick with the French Toast.

The Tuna Melt will never leave me, unless it breaks, in which case I'll fix it. But a replacement would probably be cheaper than a handful of parts from Radio Shack...

The thing that makes the Tuna Melt really work is the hard/soft switch.

I actually prefer the pedal to built in tube amp trem. The cool thing about it is that you get that pulse going through the entire amp circuit, and it just sounds huge by the time it pops out of the speakers.

Since the Minis first debuted, I haven't had one break on me yet (but I'm not a malicious stomper, either). Even so, I will probably migrate the guts of these little guys into some Hammond style boxes, or just clone the circuits (not as complicated as one would think).

It's really a tossup as to which it the more unbelievably great sounding Mini - the Tuna Melt, or the French Toast.

They need to pay their employees more at Danelectro. Poor people going hungry, it shows in their work.

I had one and I do think that they sound better than the Boss.

I worried about the plastic chasis and tried a Marshall Vibrotrem. The Marshall is my favorite now but the Dano Tuna Melt has a great sound.

This seems to be the issue with these little guys. They rival or surpass pedals that cost more, but they're relegated to being stuffed into little plastic boxes.

If BYOC and Danelectro paired up, the offerings would be phenomenal.

Just like Keeley and Analogman "fix" mass produced pedals, the industry is ripe for someone to come along and offer to put a Dano or other "flimsy" pedal into a rugged enclosure. Easy money, IMO - people are already hooked on the goods, now they want to protect it from harm.

Sound demo here :

http://www.gearwire.com/danelectro-tuna-melt.html

I have a vintage trem on one of my amps , and have been thinking about getting a pedal for use with another amp .

I looked at a few different types , but heard this was a good alternative to some cheap models like the behringer .

Have to say though that this vid is unconvincing .

Please tell me it sounds better than that

I really dig some of those cheap Dan-o boxes, especially the slap-echo
and the orange vibrato.. come ON, for the price they cannot be beat!

does it make me weird; to run a fine old guitar into a $20 pedal, that
into an old Marshall, Orange, Fender, Silvertone, or Vox amp??!

there are no rules, so I cheerfully use cheap gear if my ears say "go"!

the first three Danelectro stompboxes (those larger metal-cased ones)
are also darned cool - I had indyguitarist.com mod the yellow OD into
a regular little MONSTER of a box, for about $50! more power, way
less noise.. BTW the purple delay/echo is one of my favorites, period.

fxdoctor.com does a nice business re-boxing inexpensive effects into sturdy
metal cases! (he's also on MySpace)

I am also a big fan of the FAB series pedals. I have the OD and the Metal, and they're both amazing, especially for $15.00. Guitarist Magazine in the UK raved about the FAB OD as one of their top choices from 2005.
