Hello all. Which tubescreamer pedal or clone has the most gain drive. So far, i think its the visual sound rt 808 that has the most gain /drive. Any other candidates? Thanks

JD-9 with the midboost. You can also do some simple mods to make them clip more.

TS pedals are meant to clip symmetrically. It gives a smoother, less edgy OD. If you add a diode to make them clip asymmetrically you can get a lot gainier sounds from the pedals. Or you could try a Boss SD1 for something similar.

The JHS Moonshine sounds like its loosely based on a TS, but it has a huge amount of gain on tap if needed. Great sounding pedal IMO.

If you like the Visual Sound Rt 808, you might like the Route 66 (I think they are "Truetone" now?) Separate bass control on the TS side, boost/comp with tone control on the other side.

OTOH I usually end up just breaking out the fuzz pedal if I have my OD cranked that much.

+1 on the Ibanez Jet Driver. Same size as a TS-9, has the "good" tube screamer chip, a lot more gain, true bypass, added mid knob, rugged and reasonably priced.

The original Reverend Drivetrain II. I've never experienced a TS type OD with this much gain, and never experienced ANY pedal with this much volume on tap. I'm above unity by quite a bit with the volume set at 8 o'clock. It's a beast. Loads of gain too. With the gain set about 11 o'clock it's got more than a maxed out SD1.

Totally badass. Unfortunately it's also nearly impossible to find.

Is a matter of probability…
If you can find an older Blue Note, not the tour series, but the pro series. GC was closing these out for cheap to make room for the tour series which doesnt have the higher gain hot switch.
It is always compared to a TS only because it has a similar smooth saturation, but, it is 10 times the od a TS is IHO. And this is coming from one biggest TS fans ever. It may sound like an oxymoron, but, imagine an almost transparent TS, with a much higher gain.
Its everything that is great about a TS and none of the tone kill issues. The low gain settings are stellar too!!
And here is the ubiquitous vid:

Sometimes we let our pre-conceived ideas about gain settings keep us from turning the drive up 100%. I did in that I thought after 2:00 drive setting it would all turn to mush but I've been running my TS-9 at 100% with one of my strats and it seems to like it and I got the gain I needed without mush. You might try that. Platefire
