You don't mess with the classics, so get a ts9.
But me? I use a boss sd1 for 'that sort of thing'.
actually, I like it, but it is falling apart because I have used it so much. The velcro on the back started pulling the back plate off. Anyway, it sounds good, but just feel like I need something else.
Always need one in your wheelhouse,
like reverb. (to me)
Analogman has some good reads and products
if you are serious.
For a stock Tube Screamer sound, you could just grab a TS-9 and call it a day. If you want something with more gain, true bypass, the TS-808 style chip and adjustable mids the Jet Driver rocks!
You know you can replace velcro, right?
I would just get a new TS9. I've never really bought the vintage TS hype and the last JHS video was pretty revealing as to the lack of difference between a vintage TS and new TS.
I don't really love the TS sound, but I have a Sparkle Drive that covers that sound. What I like about the Sparkle Drive is that it's basically a TS808 clone that lets you dial in clean vs OD tone. You can use it as a straight TS, a clean boost, or anything in between.
Stack a couple of pedals you currently have. Turn both down and then look for the best match.
Often two pedals at lower gain are better than one pedal at high gain.
No, I didnt know that!! Hey, can you send me some of your velcro so I can start experimenting with it?
I use the EHX East River Drive. Sounds great and under $100.
As far as I can tell they are all pretty much identical for purposes of making music. The differences exist for people who want to look for differences, but they all do "what a TS does" as far as I know. Mine is a Keeley Red Dirt mini, I paid maybe $60 for it and I'll probably never look for a different one. Not because it's the best, or whatever, just because it does the job and that rabbit hole is one I don't want to go down.
The one in the Boss ME-80.
Cusack Screamer V2!!!
Sounds about right. Wants everyone else to solve their problems! Take some initiative!
Duralock....accept nothing less...
Please send him some!
I use a simple Beringer Vintage Overdrive and, I wouldn't want anything else.
I'd second the East River Drive. Great pedal.
