I'm waiting for the Serf of Tone to come out, or for an upgrade, maybe the Jester
Germanium gelato, of course
I realized that I needed a drive like the tubescreamer, but I dont like the tubescreamer, its too much "tubescreamer"
I choosed a fulldrive 2 mosfet instead. it doesn't colour and muddy the sound as a tubescreamer, and it have a extra boost, win win.
As long as it's got Analogman's Silver mod, it can be most any TS variant (TS9, TS808).
I was referring to the Paisley, I'd be willing tot check that out.
Never liked any of the TS I tried either- always way too much mid hump not controllable. My saving graces have been the Open Road and the MXR Custom Badass Modified . The OR really isn't based on a TS circuit but the MXR has just the right amount of mid push for me AND you can dial in the bass frequency so no loss there.
Did one of these pedals scratch your tube screamer itch?
i use the Ibanez TS808HW (hand wired) and love it - but that won't fit in to your budget I'm afraid.
No, but only because I let go of the idea, just set it aside. But I am waiting to finish my BB clone, and do a CJOD mod to an SD-1. Then I'll be posting my thoughts on all those pedals I purchased, as well as the two I just mentioned. But none of it is intended as TS substitutes.
VFE has a blem Pale Horse on his Reverb page that you can make him a offer on. Probably can nab it for $120'ish.
Low gain high level and the TS is awesome IME.
Yea not everyone read much of the thread.
A boss sd1 isn't similar to a tube screamer any more than a fender is similar to a marshal, the tube screamer is a copy of the boss
It's almost like you don't know what you want, you wan't an overdrive pedal that doesn't overdrive your clean amp but is in fact more of a modeling preamp giving the distortion of a od pedal pushing an amp that is on the verge of clipping, sounds like what you need is a good two channel tube amp, to make your tubescreamer sound rite, if that came in a pedal , who would buy 2000 dollar tube amps?
dunno if I chimed in yet but the answer is the maxon od-820. not just a lower gain tube screamer(gain pot half the size of a normal screamer), a lower gain tube screamer with the clean blend gain knob like the klon has. not just a good tube screamer for people who don't like a tube screamer, but a top 5 overdrive for me and an easy recommendation
The Marshall is based on a Fender, therefore similar.
Much like a Tube Screamer and an SD-1.
Yikes. The TS circuit is basically a copy of the Boss OD-1 and the SD-1 is an OD-1 with a tone control. The difference is in the clipping (asymmetrical versus symmetrical). They have more in common than not. And, Marshall designed their amps on the Fender Bassman.
That's what I said , Marshalls and Ibanaz are knockoffs
It's the best deal going in pedals. It even comes with an ac adapter (at least mine did when they first came out)
