I have no prejudice against solid state amps at all. for clean tones I prefer a high headroom solid state. You just get a more tight and immediate response on the attack.
Best tonewoods for amp cabinets?I feel like we don't discuss this enough. We need more threads like this.
Hickory for its high temperature/ long- burn; Oak for its flavor. Stay away from.MesquiteBest tonewoods for amp cabinets?
I've been playing my teles through my Roland JC-40 for quite a while. Nice clean sound. I recently bought my first tube amp - a Mesa Boogie Triple Crown 50 (what a way to start!). The sound and volume blew me away! So I wondered what it would sound like to hook them together. F ing incredible sound! Adding my Boss multi effects processor, I was able to get the sound that I've been looking for for years.
So, I believe I would take the tube amp over the solid state in my case. It might be a good idea to have one of each around.
What's your choice?
