Tube Amplifiers... the basic rules..

    This is rubbish, SS Amps can be a little more sterile but a great many of them are not very harsh at all.

    As general philosophy perhaps. No advice/experience/or even opinions on tube amps though.

    Ok, here goes:

    If you're in the market for a tube amp, buy the one that sounds good to you, regardless of price or artist affiliation or peer pressure.

    A friend, who plays both guitar and harp, says: you should always buy the cheapest amp that you can find Expensive amps are built for fidelity. You don't want that.

    Sounds like wisdom to me.
