As my beard/hair became more grey to almost white. When I'd grow out my facial hair, I'd notice cashiers and wait staff would be more helpful to me. I guess assuming I am old and to stupid to figure things out.
Classic! This look (minus the kissy face) once got me a senior citizen discount on a cup of coffee.

I’ve had a beard or goatee for roughly 20 years now.
I’m proud to say I’m (old) goatier than ever!

Same.

Ironically, I had a mole on my chin removed because I kept cutting it shaving, which is dangerous. But I could not shave while the stitches were in so my beard grew out. Then I never shaved it off. That was 2002.

I used to shave it off about once a year, but I have not done that since 2013.

I like the look of the goatee but it seems to have all of the downsides of a beard and you still have to shave.

Sometimes I use my trimmers and trim my beard sides way closer than the chin and that is about as close as I get these days.

I’m not really a beard goatee kinda guy after a couple weeks of not shaving I start to lose my mind. Plus hitting my mid 30’s and genetics they grey hairs have been showing up more than not. Decided to give this a go and didn’t shave for three weeks, last week I trimmed the nightmare up into a decent goatee. So week four of this part growing and it’s slowly becoming more tolerable. I’ve been keeping the perimeter nice and clean shaven and touch it up every couple days.

Haven’t gone many places the last week until tonight. Two separate places tonight I had the checkout women getting flirty which never happens. Go to get a drink at the gas station, sit it on the counter and she says is that all while eye boinking me and smiling. I said yes ma’am…. Oh it’s on me don’t worry about it.

Second place I sit my stuff on the counter and wrap up the transaction while she’s been doing the small talk and getting flirty. She gives me the total and does the oh are you sure that’s all you need tonight? Eye boink again.

Ok now I’m like what the heck this never happens. Before you all point and laugh at me have any of you found women have been more attracted to you with facial hair?
Absolutely. My life changed when beards came into style 15 years ago. Nothing worse than a baby face when you’re 30 pounds overweight. I wear a lot of that weight on my neck and it makes me snore and unattractive. A decent beard mitigates that effect. Suddenly, the flirting started.
Now that I’ve lost the weight, it hides the wrinkles starting to form on my neck and chin as my skin ages.
You’re probably wearing a circle beard? It’s what people call a goatee nowadays, but a goatee is really just the chin part.

In this state, the goatee is the go-to for old men.*

And, it makes me look even older so I’ll never have facial hair again.

* If the Michigan state police put out an APB for a suspect described as “white male in the age range of 40 to 65, 15 to 30 pounds overweight, wearing Carhartt and dad New Balance sneakers, with a bald or closely shaved hairstyle, and a gray or white goatee ?

They’d have to round up somewhere in the neighborhood of a million to a million and a half men. That dude is everywhere ! 🤣

I have a full beard. I’ve thought about going goatee but have always thought of them as for the older men, and deep southerners named Bubba (now I’m country, but I ain’t that far gone 🤣. I like to joke “I’m more country than most, but more city than most” kinda in the middle. I’m a former metalhead who started playing country and got adopted in so to say. Seems to happen a lot with old metal guys my age)

Anyway! Yes! Beard! I do wish I was one of the FEW guys who could pull off just a mustache. I’ve tried a couple times in life and it just didn’t work. I looked like someone you shouldn’t let your kids around haha. So shaved that quickly. Plus wife is almost 2 years older than me. And told me I’m not allowed to shave fully. (I look young without it)

In the nineties I had an early morning gig recording a voice talent's introduction to a daily national talk show. The producer, a friend of mine, would come into my suite, I'd connect with the voice via ISDN telephone lines, and off we'd go. One morning the producer came in looking like he'd just been smacked. I asked what was wrong. He said that at breakfast his wife and announced, "I need a change." She pulled out a pic of Harrison Ford with a goatee and said, "I need you grow one of these." My friend was shell shocked that she'd make such a demand. I commiserated with him while stifling my giggles.

But the last laugh was his. That day I went home for lunch and, finally giggling, I told my wife the story. She looked me in the eye, absolutely deadpan serious, and said, "You should try it." My friend's goatee is long gone. Me?

I have had a 'stache, goatee or beard since my early 20's.

I shaved my goatee off when my daughter was 4, she cried when she saw me and asked me to "shave it back on".

I have a small mouth for such a large head and a good old english chin so the goatee helps to hide those spots.

I grew a beard and mustache for the first time during the pandemic. It was kind of liberating to not have to think about shaving or haircuts. (I also stopped my daily morning shower too--equally liberating.) My problem is that I had a gap in the middle of mustache that never fully filled in. The kids liked it--the wife did not.

Dunno. But I had a fiance who broke down in tears when I shaved. Jilted me shortly after.

I shaved before I proposed to the woman who ended up marrying me. She knew what she was getting right from the start.
