Going to try a variation of the build style I did last year with the 18 watt Plexi where I mounted the tube sockets on the board. This was not the flimsy PCB with soldered in tube sockets but 1/8” thick goralite board with a hybrid of turrets and point to point. It worked out very well.

This variation will be honest tube sockets mounted on the board again but this time I’m using a goralite board that is copper clad on both sides. The plan is to machine away parts of the copper in a manner to leave behind traces as on a PCB but this should prove to be as reliable as a traditionally constructed tube amp with the sockets bolted to the chassis and an eyelet board.

The circuit will be a Spitfire type preamp, 1-tube reverb, post PI master volume, fixed bias and elevated heaters.

Here’s a drawing of the board with all components loaded on it.

The board is 3.6” x 6.25”. The chassis will be 1/8” wall aluminum 2” x 4” x 13”.
