What size hex key (allen wrench) do I need to adjust the truss rod on a MIM Stratocaster? It seems all of mine are too small or too big.

See if you can get yourself a long-shank t-handle allen wrench. Grainger has them open-stock. It will allow you to reach in from the end of the headstock, clearing all the tuners. Works great for the 3/16 size for MIM's, but unfortunately the thinner 1/8" wrench for MIA's will twist with the shaft that long.

I picked up T-handled allen wrenches from the local Steve's Wholesale tools. No issue with the 1/8" for my American Fenders.

Only a few bucks apiece.
