A friend asked if it‘s okay to use some coats Truoil over nitrolacquer:

He filled this deep scratch on his Gibson acoustic with woodfiller, sanded flat and want something to blend with the surrounding (nitro) finish. No chance for spraying...Thanks!

Yes, but you are better off with over-the-counter nail polish.

    Thanks!
I‘ve suggested Truoil because it‘s so easy to use and polish but wondered if there’ll be a bad reaction with the Nitro later...:(

T-O is not the best for drop-filling; I might fill it most of the way with CA glue and finish with a few coats of black nail polish...

Tru-oil is not the right stuff for this repair, regardless of whether or not it can ber used with nitro. It's the amateur's short-cut finish method that yields pretty but substandard instrument finishes. It'as hardly the right stuff for repairing a proper finish. French Polish (shellac) would my choice for touch-ups if I couldn't get nitro for some reason.

No harm, but visiual differences and bonding to each other. I repair most of the time nitro with nitro but all others with CA.
