True, except I need clarification on what an "Alpha Character" means.

The ability to type words and abuse apostrophes cannot exactly make anyone an Alpha, but hey...one can pretend.

Like every aspect of the internet it is way more dynamic than a T/F, pass or fail scenario. I'm sure I'm not alone in that I've benefitted from skilled and well-intentioned individuals on guitar based forums. Why the wholesale indictment?

The statement comes off as a mic drop moment by someone who was probably booted from a forum for being too much of an alpha character.

The reason TDPRI is my only social media interaction is that it mostly avoids that syndrome. All the other music forums (TGP, and the various Gibson and Les Paul sites, etc) are worthless. Strat Talk is OK since it mimics TDPRI, but seems to have fewer users.

“Internet forums are frankly a hell-hole of highly opinionated alpha characters who insist they have golden ears but are usually pulling utter BS out of their golden rears.”

From guitar publication.
Instead of reacting to this, we should all take a deep breath and seek to understand the underlying struggle/hurt driving this person to lash out and reach out to help….. Let’s stop judging!! On the other hand, you either have perfect pitch or you do not in which case you have no business on a guitar forum in the first place. I am SO GLAD that’s not me. :p😄

Some guitar forums are worse than others, esp. those that list political posts as being against the rules, but then don't enforce them. Far worse are sports teams forums, IMO. Those guys eat their own, and nearly every post is contested. One coach I remember, who's team was struggling at the time, said, "Every man I know can cook a steak and coach college football."

This is the only one I know, and am always impressed by a whole lot of folks here who definitely know their stuff.

Sounds like someone lost an argument on a forum and never got over it.
