As the title states I have just completed the True by-pass mod for the Vox V847 wah. First and foremost definitely worth doing for anyone who has one. I just used a really cheap dpdt switch I got off "the bay" for $5.70 total, very good price.here's the after photo and diagram I used.

Just thought I'd add a little more info. The reason I tried this mod was because I noticed when the wah was engaged I lost a lot of tone, mostly bottom end. With this mod I did regain some of my tone but not completely, I have read about modifying components on the PCB but I think for the amount that I will use it the true bypass has done enough for me.

I hope that you got a switch of good quality for your wah wah.
A footswitch has to be sturdy.

Congratulations for doing a mod that was successful!

No I just got a cheap one to see if I liked the mod If this one goes though I could always just put the stock one back in or shell out the $30 for a Carling. This was the switch that I used, (link removed)

OK! So that´s why you emphasized that you got a cheap switch.thank you for the explaination. It could be interesting to really see how good a cheap switch really is.There are many mods for a V847.IMHO you should use the wah wah long enough in different conditions to see if you need a mod and if you think you do which one.
Good luck with your wah wah!

I did the same thing and the improvement is huge. As you say, without the mod the pedal is a horrible tone-sucker when not engaged. With the mod, night and day.
