Just received my PoT after my first try on the Wednesday race. Created my account, logged in, and started hitting the "Add to Cart" button around 5 minutes early. Did it over and over, and around 9 minutes after 1pm Eastern it worked. Hit PayPal, and it was on the way.
Love the pedal!
I have the Duke of Tone, also wonderful. There is a noticeable difference between the Duke and the Prince - DIP switch 1 seems to turn the Prince into a Duke. Top end on both has the characteristic King of Tone smoothness and clarity, difference is in the midrange punch. I'm guessing the popular response to that lo-mid lift switch led to the decision to build it into the Duke of Tone?
Anyway, my impressions:
1) Presence trimpots work opposite in my pedals - PoT gets brighter turning clockwise, DoT turning counterclockwise.
2) Set PoT DIP1 ON, DIP2 OFF, and trimpots 1/8 turn from the darkest extreme on both - they now sound and feel the same, the Prince just a little louder.
3) Set PoT DIP1 OFF: the circuit now looks the same as a King of Tone schematic (without the distortion diodes) and also has a nice bottom end. I don't have a KoT to compare, but YouTube comparisons between KoT and Duke have a very similar response difference, at least on Boost and OD modes, so this may be the true KoT sound that you can't get with the Duke.
4) DIP2 - turbo mode gives just a little more gain, nice and creamy and chewy at the upper ends of the clipping ranges, just like the Analog Man description says. I leave that on.
5) KoT uses two separate diodes for distortion mode, while Duke and Prince use the same four diodes for both OD (soft, feedback loop clipping) and distortion (hard, clipping to ground or VRef). Again, I don't have a KOT to compare, but the four diodes will make some difference in sound.
Conclusion - I'm keeping both Duke and Prince! I have DIP1 off and DIP2 on in the Prince, so stacking them with the Prince first, and both in OD mode, gives a more mid-rangey push than the King with both sides on because of the Duke's low mid bump. But it's fuller than just the Duke by itself, and punchier than just the Prince by itself. Magic for certain rock and roll tunes. My current favorite setting running into Fender amps.
Hope this helps!
