The guitar in the original post is one that people will either love or hate. mark me down for hating it. Its just gaudy to me.

It's OK. A little too "frilly".
THIS ONE, by a TDPRI memeber I can't remember, is what I want.

Yuck. Looks like some pawnstore reject. I'm reminded of every month in Guitar Player magazine where there's a series of small ads in the back for ugly guitars that cost $2k+ and I think "What were they thinking? Didn't they show it to anyone else who wasn't a friend who didn't want to offend them?" It pains me to think of some guy who manages to scratch up enough money to start his "dream company" making guitars and then has no clue as to what's attractive and goes under a year later.

Wow. I wonder how many people who like this were also ripping on the Parker P-36 a few days ago...

    Ow!!

    You're over-reaching, Nick.

No need to get that mean; it isn't anywhere near THAT bad. :D

I'd gladly take it over a Hyundai, spoilers or no.

you know the more I think about it, the more I reckon the industry should really be looking for their future creative direction on this forum... the tastes and thought that go into each partscaster, project and opinion here are usually amazing.

    Take this thread for example.

    Not.
Doesn't work for me. If it was meant to be a tribute to the Travis guitar, then it should look like it rather than pinch a few features and stick them on a Tele copy. The shape on the headstock is all sharp points too, it doesn't even mirror the soft rounded shape of the body additions.
I get Nicks Hyundi reference, harsh but...

See-- this guitar is gorgeous to me. Love it.

And even though the OP pics of the other guitar has similarities, I dislike that guitar. It's a classic "just right" vs "too much" scenario.

Props to whomever built this one on the boards.

Pictures like this make me want a B16 so bad. I might start playing with a wound G just because.

You need to find a guy who knows how to work with Aluminum. My guy added and recontoured the bridge for an unwound G.

I've seen that guitar before, and it's stunning. I don't mind the wound G, so I'm seriously considering the b16. How does that guitar react when you really dig into the strings? Do they slide around on that floating bridge?

    It's a bit . . . scrolly . . .

I appreciate what he's trying to do but it doesn't quite get there for my taste.

This one's a lot more my speed.
