Hey guys. I have my first Stratocaster over here. Mainly a tele man with 5 always waiting to be played. The Strat came with 9 gauge strings. I switched to 10 gauge and the bridge is raised now. My question is this.

How do I lower the bride now that I put heavier gauge strings on? Is it as simple as tightening the spring in the back?

Any help is good help. Thank you boys.

    Mike.

Open the panel on the back of your strats body and adjust the screws that hold the plate at the end of the springs. If that doesn't provide enough adjustment you can add or remove springs or change springs...springs with different amounts of tension are available.

Adding another spring will probably work but I just put a stack of old pennies in there to lower. Usually 5 to 8 cents does the trick for my Strats.

This is the correct method for adjusting. Loosen the strings first before each tweak in the back, then retune. Repeat as required. Thus may take some time, but once you get it right, it will usually stay there.

Yes .. Screw the claw that holds the springs further into the body and you're done.

This method from the Fender Custom shop is very easy to use and works perfectly every time.
