I suppose this could also be a 1x12 vs 4x8 inquiry.

I'm in the market for one of the amps in the title. I've owned a few YGM3s, but I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on a single 12" vs four 8" speakers? Or has any experience with both amps. What are the sound differences, generally speaking? I'd be curious about anyone's feedback who has spent time with either or both configurations.

I don't have the experience to answer your direct question, but it seems that Traynor has used a lot of 8" speakers in their designs over the years. I've never had much love for the 8" speaker because most of my experience has been in small, low powered amps. But since Traynor seems to use them as a design choice, it might be worth it to check out the 4X8" to fully appreciate the Traynor experience.
