Transformers for Vibro-Champ clone?

    I'm hoping to build a blackface Vibro-Champ and need to pick a set of transformers from my pile of Hammond amps. I have available iron from the following:

    AO-35
    AO-44
    AO-29
    AO-43

    None of these are single ended amps like the AA764 is. Can I use any of them?

    Your AO35 looks like it's got ballpark power figures. The Champ's B+ is a little higher but subtract one EL84 I reckon you'll be round where you need to.

    You need a single ended output trans but they're cheap. Any radio item using 6V6 or 6BQ5/EL84 would work.

    That's a great idea!
    I'm morally opposed to buying new transformers since there are basically free ones all over the place. I'll start looking for a radio immediately.

    You could use half the output transformer. Just use centre and outside tap. But that would probably be great for a Tweed Deluxe output, Vox AC10/15 build.

    I'm planning a small amp this time. I just sold a Tweed Deluxe, and I have a couple of 15 to 18 watt amps.

    Is that safe to do? I was told that single ended OT have thicker wire, and and air gap...
