    Everybody loves a choo choo train; every band needs a train song. If nothing else, they're fun to practice and give a chance to mess around with effects. Everybody knows Night Train, Orange Blossom Special, Mystery Train etc., but they come from all over; here's a few from assorted genres for a start

    Cuba;
    A Capella;
    Bluegrass;
    African;

    Do your worst.

    The only music theory I ever learned was that there's no such thing as a bad song about a train.

    Casey Jones, City of New Orleans, Monkey and the Engineer, Back on The Train, Folsom Prison Blues, Ramblin' on My Mind, It takes a lot to laugh it takes a train to cry....there are a million, I like 'em all.

    Garcia covering Chuck Berry. The rhythm section really gets cooking with a great train feel.

    Then there's this one:

    I might have posted this before, but a couple of years ago, one of our grandchildren told us his favorite Christian singer was Danny Gokey, so we sprung for ticket to see him when he appeared at our church.

    In the middle of all his Christian songs, Gokey and his band burst into the Doobie Bros. song "Long Train Running." At the first chords, everybody in the sanctuary got up out of their seats and started dancing around like they couldn't help themselves.
