I believe it is to be released during late spring or summer 2020 so it will be a while before it is available [to me] on DVD. Most sequels are inferior to the original, and this is a very belated sequel. It is, however, consistent with the sort of desperation passes one sees from Hollywood these days because so few flicks besides superhero and vampire movies have done well financially.

The original was released in the spring of 1986.

    The original was OK.

If Tom Cruise is in it, then I won't see it.

From what I've read about it, Cruise and Kilmer are in it.

Just saw a story about the new Terminator Sequel. It'll be out in November

Hollywood and movie makers in general are totally out of new original ideas. It’s all revamped rubbish these days - I probably won’t bother with this.

Last time I saw Val Kilmer, he could be cast as a battleship.
....and I was wondering where Jack Reacher had been hiding out. ;)

It’ll be big. I’ll probably skip it.

This could be dire as heck the whole concept was ridiculous since AFAICT there are no ****-ups who fly in the US military.

But I'll go see just about any movie that has airplanes as a major theme... just ignore the story and watch the planes go by.

Tom Cruise is actually starting to look old in the trailer. Hilarious I bet he has a 20 something love interest in the movie.

So Maverick is now a 57 year old fighter pilot?

1 thing the director has going for him is the G's being pulled in the flight scene's help tighten up Cruise' saggy face. They'll have to CGI the gobble out of his neck during maneuvers though.

The first one was abysmally bad it was "funny". This looks like it will stink at least as much, putting it on par with the original.

Here's to hoping there's another volleyball match with saggy balls aplenty.

    A Navy Captain too.

An officer with the rank of Captains is generally in command of aircraft carrier, air wing, or other vessel and no longer flying an aircraft as a principal duty.

Let me repeat what everybody else has said: a fifty seven year old fighter pilot?

I would rather they do a documentary on Deniz Tek , real and original Iceman. The pilot whose name they stole for I don’t know who - plays Iceman ? I never saw the piece of crap original, I sure as hell ain’t gonna see this one.

Deniz Tek Is a rock guitarist from Ann Arbor who bought Fred sonic Smith’s Epiphone took it to Australia , started Radio Birdman , influenced an entire continents rock n roll, then became a flight surgeon/fighter pilot (Iceman) then later went and became an emergency room MD and still tours playing ripping guitar including a Radio Birdman reunion and was really great friends until the end with Ron Asheton.

Doesn’t that sound like a better movie than “cult member still thinks he’s 30” ?

Val Kilmer has been battling cancer .I hope he’s OK. He was phenomenal as Doc Holiday one of my favorite characters in any movie.

Maybe they should make a movie about coming up with a new idea for a movie?
That might get someone thinking and creating something new for a change.

Rambo 4? and terminator 5? are also coming out next year.

One slight correction- I don't believe Tek is an actual pilot. The position of Flight Surgeon is an aircrew rating like weapons systems officers (meaning they log flight hours), but they are not required to be pilots.

Otherwise, yeah- Deniz Tek is most assuredly a badass.
