I love how you said this as if a normal person would ever consider going to these extreme lengths. LOL. "Like any normal person, I can lift things with my mind ..." Well played.

Yep. Bass toanz are a delicate thing, said no one ever.

None of this qualifies as a "tragic accident." Sorry. But I fear you are going to get no shortage of suggestions on where you should go next. Sorry again.

    I love TDPRI.

Nothing bad is going to happen for a few hours.

However, I have some neodymium magnets and brother, let me tell you, they scare me. They are so powerful and attract so quickly -- like, INSTANTLY -- that I have put them in diametrically opposite corners of my house so that they can keep the concrete foundation nice and square.

    Do not mess with neo's.

Even in the packaging they are very close together (much closer than after installed. How long do you think they may have sat in that packaging? Months? Sometimes years?

Whatever the outcome it won’t be tragic.

I'm not even a redneck and that was what I thought. Or maybe I'm a redneck and don't know it. I DID grow up in north Louisiana. Around rednecks.

Buddy of mine had an old SD humbucker in a junk drawer, full of screws and all sorts crap, for years on end. I said to him "hey man, why don't we install that thing in your Strat and see what it sounds like?" Off we went and the old thing worked like a champ! It's been installed now for over a year and still sounding great.

Of course with rare boutique pickups they are made with kryptonite and other types of unobtanium, or at least that's what the ads say. No telling what happens when you put them in a bag together.

I still feel nervous about the whole thing. Going to start working through installing all of them tomorrow. So many choices and so many soldering burns to come.

It seems like there would be a really big market for some sort of shielded compartment tackle box for people to keep their ever expanding collection of pickups in. I can't believe no one has produced one yet.

Some of the best pickups I have came in the mail, wrapped together with rubber bands. They must have been like that several days. Maybe the close proximity made them kick more ass.

Wait. Do all of your guitars have only one pickup?

Do you keep your guitars several rooms apart just to be safe?

Don’t look at any pictures of 3 pickup LPs or, worse, SGs, for goodness sake.

And whatever you do, don’t go to a guitar shop and look in their pickup display case that has all the pickup boxes STACKED ON EACH OTHER until they sell.

Like any normal person, I thought about manufacturing individual shielded pickup storage containers, but quickly decided that little cardboard boxes were good enough and aside from one easily worried guy on the East Coast, there wasn't really a market for it.

Even if a pickup did get degaussed, it takes 10s to recharge the magnetic rods using a vice and two neodymium magnets

I would worry more about dings, dents, scratches and broken wires (especially pickup windings) as a result of so many pickups jumbled together in the bag.

Hopefully you didn't get mad at your wife over this. If you did, maybe the next thing to do is buy her some flowers and not worry so much about trivial things like pickups that aren't being used.

The key issue is whether or not there are any pickups in the shoes that you are in? Hopefully she found them all and put them safely in the bag.
