Hello folks! This may appear to be my first post, but I assure you, it is not. It's been so long since I was on here that I had to re-register because of the password hassle. I had laid off playing for a time while dealing with my mother's Alzheimer's & my own health issues after a heart attack. Anyway, I've got a friend that I've known since first grade, (we're both 66) & a few years back, he got obsessed with so called cheap guitars, I think primarily as a way to deal with his brother's suicide but admittedly that's just my guess. He's got between 40-50 guitars, one of which is a G&L ASAT tele style made in Indonesia that is growing on me the more I play it. I kind of like the HB in the neck position & the satin finish fingerboard which I prefer over the glossy finish on my MIM strat & I've been thinking of trading him my mint condition Tweed Blues Jr. for it. I've got a Lollar Special T bridge p/u which I think would match the neck p/u better & Callaham bridge & both compensated saddles by Callaham or Gotoh if I decide to not use the six individual six stock ones. I've also got a custom-made ebony control plate w/MOP inlays that I made & Callaham knobs or if I can talk my buddy out of selling me back a control plate I made for him I'd use that. Really the only issue with this G&L is a nasty wound on the top edge of the body & the B string tuner is at a slight angle but doesn't seem to affect tuning at all. And I love the color. I'd appreciate any opinions or advice if anyone care to offer any. I really don't know much about these guitars.

I screwed up & inserted two of the same photo, sorry. Also forgot to ask, but I assume locking tuners are made for this guitar. Don't need em for tuning reasons as much as ease of string changes.

I own an Asat tribute, great guitar unless you ever want to swap the neck, very expensive. But if the neck is good you are set. I honestly and this is just my own opinion feel the tribute models are over valued.

in my mind, if you like the guitar better than you like the amplifier then the trade works. the Amp isn’t rare, if you dig the axe jump on it. value is just relative.
Besides the Blues Jr. I have a Super Champ X2 combo which is the little amp I play almost exclusively, and really not a bad little amp especially for the price. Sure, this Indonesian made guitar has a few little flaws that you wouldn't see (hopefully) in an American made G&L but nothing I can't live with or fix with stuff I have laying around anyway. I'm anxious to drop the Lollar in the bridge.

In the UK, the tweed blues junior has a little more value than the G&L asat classic tribute, not a massive difference, and the occasional high price on one, low price on the other have parity.

I have 2 G&L Asat Tribute, a special and a classic. Both are excellent amd sound fantastic.... after a full fret level. Both axes had terrible fret work.

You have the luxury of trying yours before hand, so make sure that's fine. If the fret work is fine the action is already as low as you want it, I'd personally be happy to swap. After fret work, my tributes hang on happily with my gibson and Vigier, tone wise and playability wise.

The Von Dutch Flying Eyeball control plate is awesome.

Dings and dents don't bother me as long as it plays well and I can make the sounds I want to hear from it. If you dig the guitar, go for it.

This particular G & L has nicely finished fret work & 10's for strings & I prefer 9's but some one stole all my set up tools

Thank you! I made that for my friend's jaguar project quite a while back, but he won't sell it back to me & I doubt he'll ever finish that project. In keeping with the "hot rod" theme of Von Dutch, I wanted to make an aluminum p/g with engine turning on it but never got around to it. I've never seen a tele control plate made from wood before but as long as you put copper tape on the back they work just fine. I got the idea from the ebony & rosewood veneer that Stewmac sells with is basically the same thickness as a tele plate.
