Ok for you offset guitar fans here's a trade question. I've got a 2013 American Special Mustang (HH with the tune-o-matic bridge). Right now I have a trade deal on the table for one of two Jazzmasters. Which would you take:
    1. American Performer Jazzmaster (2018 with the Yosemite pickups and strat bridge)
    Or
    2. Troy Van Leuwen Jazzmaster (mim and totally different specs)

#1...because it has strat bridge issues that I can deal with.
I still have trouble resolving Jazzmaster bridge issues.

Troy Van Leuwen....amazing guitar, total no brainer. Number one is great, but the TVL is one of the best JM's out there, trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Buy a Staytrem bridge, or a mastery. The cheapest alternatives are either a Fender, or Allparts Mustang bridge's.

I agree. The Strat vibrato is far superior to the Jag/JM style one IMO, and the Yosemite pickups are awesome, if they're anywhere near as nice as the Strat ones (see my avatar). My favorite Strat pickups ever!

TVL hands down. A properly set up JM bridge and vibrato will stay in tune and to me, is preferable to the Strat vibrato every time. Both my JMs have a neck pocket shim from StewMac and Mustang bridges. Zero issues. That Strat bridge on a JM looks lame, sorry. But go with your gut!

    .

I would say the TVL if it did not have block inlays. Now, I'll have birds on a PRS but not blocks on a Fender.

From everything I've seen, the TVL is quite a popular and well liked guitar.

The Performer may be an easier trade later on.

Thanks for the replies guys! I've got a meeting set up for tomorrow to see both guitars. Seeing them both in person will help. I'll report back!
