Had to practice tough love on New Year’s Eve. Nephew showed up at door saying girl friend kicked him out and walked a few miles to our place. He has had drug and alcohol issues and probably a continuation. Girlfriend his keys and Wallet. Kept him at door as his mom my sister tried to contact mate etc etc. Regardless I would not have a abuser stay. Also possibly suicide inclinations which I am not qualified to talk. Took him to homeless shelter. Hope all works out. We do Alanon for other issues since my daughter died of od . Hope all works out and he gets help. Just nice ending to 2022. Just another day.

Sorry to hear that, very sad stuff and indeed one of those times that may be the only right answer.

At my home group a member shared a couple of seasons ago that her son who was "in recovery" overdosed in her living room on a Christmas visit, and she made a simlar hard choice to throw him out after EMTs revived him.
She and I had also gone to the same Naranon meeting.

For myself I can say for100% certain that until family stopped helping me out of one jam after the other, I kept using.

Only when they all said "we cannot help you any more (unless to get you into a program)" did I get help and stick with it.
That was Christmas 1997.
Clean since May 1998 because it often takes a few rehabs and falls.

Tough situation to be in at this time of year and (imho) preserving your own sanity as a priority is the right thing to do albeit tough.

Prayers that your nephew has hit bottom enough to find the gift of desperation.

I've a big debt of gratitude owed to the Friends of Lois W for preserving my family's sanity.
