That article is not kind. Why waste time talking about the musicians we don't like?

Whoever said playing music was a contest. I won't be shopping at that place. They seem rude.

The line between journalism and trolling has become very blurred.

But the article was written by Andy at "pro guitar shop"! Didn't you guys hear me, the Andy from the Pro Guitar Shop. He's like the greatest music store employee that ever lived. He's even more famous than "Mike" at guitar center.

Hey, I like Andy, and personally I think he could get through the pits with less tire changes than the rest of the guys he's talking about. Lets see them play as man guitars as Andy has without breakin' a single PICK!

They're just writing what gets said on forums like this all the time, with tongues in cheek and acknowledging that these guys are good enough to be "rated" even if they are "over-rated".

I always find it best to read the article not just the headline before commenting.

It's a ridiculous premise for an article from a source that should have known better. It's nothing more than it's described to be. The water cooler opinions of guys like Andy who can play pretty well as long as he has someone else's licks to copy for his lessons.

Has he ever created any prestigious guitar work of his own. Sure as hell Carlos Santana created a lot of it and why do we care if he's playing the same thing as he's been playing for 40 years. So does BB King, and Clapton, and quite a few other guitar legends as well.

They usually produce some useful articles on gear and lessons in playing a tune like it was recorded but this whole article is arrogance at it's finest. Boooooo

Perhaps the goofiest lead in to a story or news article that I've ever read.

    They're full-time... I'm part-time. Can't hate on that. Well, Yngwei's fat.

Top five fat guitarists - now there's an article:

    Yngwie
    BB King
    Johnny Hiland
    Michael Romeo
    Vince Gill

Funny, I know every name on the list, but have no idea who wrote it.

It is interesting that 2 of the names were in "it might get loud".

Would knock Yngwie and Vince Gill out of the top 5.

Yep. Hard to see the point of that article, beyond getting people to say, "hey, wtf?" in the comments section.

If I want to read about the top 5 overrated guitarists, I'll come to the Bad Dog.

NOT written by Andy, BTW; he's mentioned in the 3rd person. I refuse to believe that Andy would ever write such a thing.
