Refreshingly new and true country music.
Marty IS a great guitarist. But he’s even better on Mandolin. Probably one of the best in the world.
Laur Joamets from Estonia
Best is so subjective. I'll throw Chris Stapleton in the mix just to stir things up. I know most of the guys already listed technically play rings around him, but I like his style.
Waving the Union Flag for Albert Lee.
Why would you use sturgill simpsons prog rock album to show someone his country skills? Should def be looking at Sunday valley, high top mountain, and meta modern sounds in country music albums. Meta and sailors guide to earth are my two favorites. But even sailors guide I wouldn't consider a country album. It's more Memphis/ delta mixed with country influences. His newest album is good but def fuzzy rock mixed with 80s synth sounds. Not country at all lol. And sturgill simpson has said he will prob never make country music again. Were lucky we got a bluegrass album from him. Which im not to excited about. Its all the same songs we have already heard.
I think you got my point!
Guthrie, Redd, Johnny, Marty & Kenny
Danny Gatton is currently playing on my computer.
If that's not Johnny Hiland you mean there, then I'll add him to conversation. My other 4, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Kenny V, Sturgill.
I'm not knocking sturgills bluegrass album either. It sounds great and I listen to it a lot. But hes had more than enough time to have new material released. He said sound and furry was done two years before he released it. Maybe he will surprise us. But I think he will go another 3 years doing nothing except live shows. But hes also said hes tired of touring. I really dont get the guy. There is plenty of people who would kill to be in his shoes. And yet he seems to hate it.
Never heard of them.
Where's Pete Anderson?
I was going to add him to my list too. He's a great player, and strangely not well known. He really kicks some butt with the Mavericks, and was great with Dwight.
My three would be Vince Gill, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.
I will actually throw the choices over to those who currently listen to country music because I really don’t.
