Maybe a 3-piece ice sculpting tool? The scallops in the "handle" not being finger grooves, but a rough scraper? If you fold it one way, the paddle scraper extends forward, the other way, the ice pick extends forward.

    No clue.

I do know that if you needed one and didn't have it, the job would be a PIA.

Maybe it's one of those brilliantly thought out multi tools that does not actually function for any of it's imagined purposes.

Like those car crash escape tools with the lightweight metal tipped plastic hammer head that you can't actually swing under water with enough force to break the car window.

Wait, maybe it's a rock climbing tool?

Or for clearing ice from snowmobile tracks?

Unless the information you want is, "What is this thing?"

    Wife: "What is that?"
    Me: "I don't know."
Wife: "Then why are you keeping it?"
Me:"Cause if I ever figure out what it is I'll have a really good one."
    Wife::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Looks like a scribing tool. I missed it if you gave dimensions, but I'm guessing you could hold both legs in one hand and track an edge with the wider serrated flange while scratching a line with the point, maintaining the gap with your grip. The flat side would help maintain a perpendicular position of the point, whereas a compass wouldn't work as well.

What? No one knows yet? I was just checking in to find out the answer. It seems like there is an expert in everything here at TDPRI. Maybe they are on holiday vacation this week.

I'll check in later, because I'm sure that I will need one eventually.

I saw one of those on the X FILES. The alien that has no arms puts the scraper thingy in his mouth with his foot and the pointy thingy picks goo from his belly button.

    Swiss army knife version 1.0?

I'm stumped. Doesn't look sturdy enough for leather work. Ice pick/scraper maybe, but why the hinged shaft?

It looks like some sort of spreader. Maybe an upholstery stretcher?

It's a kerbunkerelator. Used by Kerbunkers for kerbunkerelating kerbunkernels.

Which is probably what non-guitar people hear when they read the TDPRI Home Depot sub-forum.
