I think these all began when the real estate crash hit, and BURIED Chicago and Detroit more than many. I bet the cities were paying people to film there, instead of the other way 'round.

I like PD, but hate it when they do those integrated shows, where I turn on PD, and have no idea what's going on. Of course, it's pretty easy to figure out - the plots are soooo predictable.

How about “Chicago Ex-Residents”? - Where I grew up it seems like every other person I met claimed they were “from” there. They all said it’s the greatest city in the world, best food, best museums, blah, blah, blah. But for some reason all these same people moved to Arizona.:lol:

Yes. Detroit stopped. Chicago is likely still keeping up with the thug money bribes. It's a form of advertising like any other product placement (how many branded phones and laptops do you see in these shows? Or guitar headstocks with tape on them...)

There are also many show writers that are from Detroit and Chicago that go out to LA and write their hometowns into the show.
Tim Allen used to wear Michigan sports and college sweatshirts on Tool Time when that aired.

Say there, maybe you could get a job writing for those shows. Actually I love CPD, but the only time I watch the others is when they tie one in with CPD, kind of bribes me into watching them.

Prolly warsh the cah . Wait - how do you guys say “car” ?

Let’s agree to disagree in terms of film incentives.

And how much they add to an economy.

Or we can look at Atlanta. And see how it’s working. Everything is made there.

We had friends that were in catering during the boom of the film incentives in Michigan. They were making tons of money, they were hiring new people every month , they were paying taxes and permit and licensing fees.

    And then it stopped.

Before it ever really got rolling.

All due to some guy with the worst Michigan accent on record and a handful of extremely short-sighted folks on the west side of the state.

Episode I haven't seen yet, dope dealer shoots kid, Voight takes suspect a 92 year old bag lady down to the "cage" beats so much crap out of her, it's squirting out past her depends. Halstead walks in just as Voight breaks a chair over her head, stops Voight from finishing her off with a crowbar he has hidden down his pants leg. Halstead and Voight argue about who's in charge, then Halstead grabs Upton for a quick one in the closet while he pretends she's really Trudy Platt. (he has a thing for older women) Then they all go to work and find the real killer was a 15 year old kid who drives a new BMW, where they shoot him dead, but have to throw a gun down since the kid was unarmed. Now the current head of the police, (might be a man, woman, or a former marine combat dog) vows to get Voight and his whole team. Last scene shows Voight driving the old lady out to his favorite vacant lot with the tanks, shooting her, and burying her, because he's had it with these witnesses suing him for just doing good police work. Of course Halstead is hiding not far away shooting a video of the whole thing. Fade to black tune in next week folks to see what happens.
