    It's a classic!

Good lesson that tone is very much in the hands as it sounds like Grisman and Rice on every cut!

They did a live album from that period with most of those tunes but I don't think that arsenal of guitars. Great album as I recall!

I love that album. Basically every song eas played on a different vintage instrument, if memory is correct, yet, it still sounds like Tony Rice. Proof the hands matter.

Also, there used to a full show of Tony Rice and David Grisman playing pretty much this whole album plus more. I'll look for it...

Here it is. Played less than an hour from me. Really worth a watch. I may watch it again later tonight myself.

This is kind of my 'acoustic guitar bible' have listened to it since new.
Just love the sound and space of just one guitar and mandolin.

17 songs on 17 different flattops and 17 mandos, and I'm always trying to pickup something each time I play the recording.
I have basically learned dumbed-down versions of the 'easier' ones:

    O Sole Mio
    Prisoners Waltz*
    I Am a Pilgrim
    Wildwood Flower
    Watson's Blues
    Morning Sun*
    My Grandfather's Clock

    * very cool Grisman originals

I try to teach a few if these on the fly to our casual bluegrass group, or acoustic buddies

Just fantastic playing- RIP Tony Rice- a real master

There’s a really cool resonator guitar-oriented Tone Poems too, featuring Grisman, Bob Brozman and Mike Auldridge. Highly recommended.

Another cool one is Steve Pottier & Sandy Rothman "Bluegrass Guitar Duets".

They play vintage D-18 and D-28 and have them on separate channels. So you can flip the balance all the way to one channel of the other and compare tone and style!

    Great album!

We had tickets to see David Grisman in Grants Pass, but that got cancelled when the shirt hit the floor.
