...400 miles to the east, to my home town of Pipestone, Minnesota.....on a 50hp, 24 year old motorcycle, in mid October.....just for the heck of it.
    IMG_20211009_084447016.jpg

I will be taking advantage of a two-day weather window that will have the midday temps in the low 70's, though my morning 'launch' tomorrow will be in the mid 40's. The skies will be mostly clear for the duration, though on the home end, late Tuesday evening will bring mid 40's and rain, maybe a freezing mix, so I will need to beat that, and should...if nothing goes seriously wrong.

I will stay the night at a hotel, get up on Monday morning, have breakfast, poke around the town of about 4500 and briefly revisit some old haunts, take some photos....reminisce silently about my first eighteen years spent here, then ride 400 miles westward and home.

Just for the heck of it.

Sounds like a great plan to me !! It helps clear the head and it’s a beautiful time to ride.
I do pretty much the same thing on my motorcycle from time to time.

    Have a great time !

Sounds like an adventure my friend..I love them. I once hitch hiked 700 miles in January to North West Scotland from my home in Somerset, spent one night there in the snow in my tent and hitch hiked back:) Just for the fact of doing it. And I had a car I could have driven there in comfort!

    Cool!
I lived in nearby Iona, Leota and Chandler, when I was a kid.
We’d go to Pipestone for groceries sometimes.
This was when I was 5 or 6 years old, circa 1962.
I had a souvenir turtle made of pipestone, from Pipestone.
I haven’t thought of your hometown in 60 years.
    Thanks for the reminder.

I remember those Pacific Coast's from way back when. They were the baby brother to the ST1100. Should still be plenty of power. I rode across the Midwest and all through the Rockies on a 750 Nighthawk a couple of times. I think that bike was around 60HP.

A beautiful Honda Pacific Coast, in red no less!
    That'll be a great ride.

I contemplated buying one in 1989 when they were first issued, but I came down on orders for Germany, and abandoned all thoughts of it.
Always looked so smooth and solid!
    :)

That sounds great, John. I have deeply enjoyed every "you can't go home again" trip I've ever made.

Honda Pacific Coast? You might have to overcome a powerful urge to go west.
