Haven't listened to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in a while but I rediscovered this video earlier today and was reminded of what an awesome band they were. Especially with Stan Lynch on drums and (of course) Mike Campbell (not to take anything away from the other members or the late great Howie Epstein).

I prefer these versions of "Fooled Again", "Strangered In The Night", and "You're Gonna Get It" compared to the studio ones.

His lyrics were intriguing, remind of the early Beach Boys songs.

You can probably see from my avatar that I’m a bit biased, but they were incredible. Absolutely my favorite band to see live, and if you haven’t listened to the Live Anthology, it’s well worth a listen. All their concerts felt truly like an emotional experience.

I miss that guy dearly. He left so many great songs, but each new album felt instantly like a classic record. And I truly do miss those concerts.

There is still a huge hole out there where Tom Petty goes. Love that Campbell and the family are curating the stuff he left behind but it's just not filling that hole. Thanks for the post!
