I've heard of Kanye but never heard any of his recordings so I can't comment 'cept to say that he don't owe me any money.

I met one guy who worked for Kanye, and seemed knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and I know another who has worked with Kanye on an ‘artist-to-artist’ level, and said he’d never do it again!

This would be the antithesis of cancel culture then.

    Kanye's a billionaire, right??

I'm doubting that. Kanye is a flash in the pan

If wealth is to be a measure of success then humanity is in trouble. I'd measure other ways.

I was painting with a broad stroke.

    So I agree and disagree.

It's the antithesis of the wild beast that cancel culture has morphed into. And the antithesis to the strawman version of what people THINK or SAY cancel culture is, but really isnt.

IMO there is room for nuance in this world, even if lots of folks have become reactionary... All the camps are guilty of this

I wholly believe horrible people who do horrible things deserve to be "cancelled".

There are thresholds of reasonability. There is a difference between eccentrics and monsters.

I still stand by what I say.

Another way to phrase it is "don't meet your heros kid"

Humans are the best and the worst all at once.

I've been a big fan of Todd for a long time. A Wizard A True Star was/is an epic record, exciting to hear he's going to perform it live.

Wow! I can't name any of them... or even recall any of them. Hmmm?

When he went all religious and tele-evangelist selling Holy Spirit "swag" for ludicrous prices --- I downloaded a bunch of his music from Itunes. that was a long day. I was also curious how many times he used the "N" word: sadly, the predictable amount. He ain't no hero.

Kanye's a commercial, mass-culture popstar -- the Sears of music -- and not some amazingly deep creator. He doesn't make his vast amount of $$$ by pushing the musical envelope or creating original or creative stuff -- it's quite the reverse, really. He's like Picasso once the artist established himself. Churning out "Picassos." It makes me sad and disappointed in humanity to see people readily to idolize someone who is so awful to fellow humans, so ecocentric in all settings, and such a braggart.

Lots of Kanye hate. Lots of rapper hate in general. Sounds like the same Beatles and Stones hate I grew up hearing. No need to slash a guy for mental health reasons. And no need to heap micro aggressions because he’s so successful in a genre that’s not your favorite.

Maybe... but let's keep those cancellations on hold until the reason is proven in a court of law rather than implied by a mob of Internet trolls, shall we.

And yeah... I fully agree with "Never meet your heroes".
