    I've always thought Gibson was the guitar of country music, especially Nashville Country, for the past 80 or 90 years.

    Anybody else think of "Gentle On My Mind" while listening to this?

    I'll be the odd man out in regards to the Nashville thing. Except for Chet, I don't particularly care for it, being more of a Bakersfield kind of guy, in part no doubt because I'm from the West Coast. Buck Owens (Don Rich), Merle Haggard (James Burton/Roy Nichols) and Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Brothers for me, thanks.

    Gibson has been around country for a long time, but now it dominates everything I see on CMT and PRS is on the rise as well.

    I think this is comfortable thinking but it isn't true.

    Willie wasn't successful doing nashville the nashville way... he left and went back to texas and created a niche and that niche turned out to be hugely popular....

    his heroism is in his ability to keep working not in being 'rebellious'...

    this thinking kind of drove Waylon crazy (don't you think this outlaw bit done got out of hand)...

    if the nashville thing had worked... he would have stayed....

    I'll surf the 3 or so country channels we get on the tv.

    Prominent Themes:

    T&A, tractors, trucks, cars, beaches/tropics, and clever word play songs

    SERIOUSLY! It has the poetry and subtlety of of a misogynist rap song.

    Gibson = Country
    Fender = Western

    Aw, never mind. The Sons of the Pioneers just sank my theory. :cry:

    you know, I just put my local country station on yesterday while driving to work. don't know why. anyway I was pleasantly surprised to hear a bunch of songs with good country pickin'. not too much production to spoil it either. I thought Is The Tide Turning? I might try to listen again and if this keeps up it would be nice.
