A love story right here on TDPRI. Gotta be one of the coolest threads I have ever been seen here in the Bad Dog Cafe. Good luck.

Sorry if this is a little cynical... But I would ask yourself these questions -

How many kids does she have now from how many fathers?

How many times has she been married or in a long term relationship, and is she still in a relationship?

How much weight has she gained?

    What is her mental state?

    What is her financial situation?

What does she really want from you? Attention? Resources?

Women don't just look up their ex's because they are in town. They want something.

    Maybe its all good...

    But be careful man...

It's interesting how one person's excitement and hopefulness is viewed by others as an invitation to tell their own nightmare stories of how a similar situation didn't work out for them....but always ends with the mandatory 'good luck' as if that magically nullifies the preceding horror story.....lol. Humans!

It's always a joy when an old friend decides to come find you--and even better when it is an old girlfriend that you'd like to catch up with. Enjoy it!

Sorry for all you’ve been through, man. But European girls are not like Texas girls.

It's comforting to reconnect with the girlfriend you still love.

My high school/college girlfriend dumped me for one of my buddies. He dumped her a year later. She lived with Maynard for 25 years. She dumped Maynard for Steve. A year after Steve's dad passed away, he went to the graveside and blew his brains out. Then she finally got married to Joe.
I visited them a few years ago. Joe was cool with it. She introduced me to everyone else as her "Oldest friend".
She lives within walking distance from her Dad and step Mom. I used to backpack with her Dad, and the step mom was my mentor teacher back when I was first starting down that road.

Hey, starting now means you don't have to make all those really bad late teens early 20s mistakes with each other!

Hope it goes well, but relax and ease up on expectations, so you can be fully in the present moment rather than giddy with hope for the future.

I'm afraid I share in Big_Bend's cynicism. Be careful.

You'll never have feelings for anyone the way you do for her. You know that. I know that. I hope it works out for you. I can kinda tell you both already know it will.

Signed, a man happily married to his high school crush.

Like Babe Ruth said in The Sandlot, "follow your heart kid...you'll never go wrong."

I have constantly been playing "Debbie's blond hair made the summer for me" on my guitar, which is a recent song I wrote with her in mind.

It starts around the five minute marker.
