Yep, they're both still alive and healthy, and still love each other dearly. I'm an only child.

The only serious fight I ever remember them having was the time I was in middle school and my dad brought home a stray dog. Mom refused to have it in the house and gave an ultimatum... "If the dog is still here when I get home from work, I will be leaving." Dad found a home for the dog. Funny now... neither of them remember this episode and think that I made it up.

We have a party planned for them, but due to current circumstances we've had to postpone it. We sent them out for a steak dinner last night to Jeff Ruby's and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Dad is the intelligent pacifist.
    Mom is the assertive realist.

I like to think that I became an intelligent realist. haha

Congrats to them! Not an easy thing these days. My wife and I just celebrated our 43rd and fully intend to make it to 50 and beyond.

    Very cool!
My grandparents made 50, and I remember visiting them in California to celebrate.
    Great memory!

That's awesome! Congratulations to your parents. Mine just hit 45 years a couple weeks ago - likewise I don't recall arguments growing up. But we are English, so there was plenty of loaded passive aggressive silence...

Congrats to you and your family!

Maybe keep track of all the celebrations missed and then have one week-long big celebration when it’s safe to do so?

Why, I had no idea you were such a little whippersnapper GT! Your parents must be about my age.

Fifty years is a long time. Congratulations to them both.

It's a milestone worth acknowledging - I recall my parents' 50th, as it was scheduled for the weekend immediately after 9/11.
They almost made it to 70.
    Congrats.
    Peace - Deeve
