One of the perks of working in a high school is that lots of kids leave stuff behind when they graduate, and sometimes it’s music gear. Case in point: the Tiny Boy: And yeah, that’s really its name. It has some issues, not the least of which is the nut, which is not only plastic, but HOLLOW plastic. Tuners are mighty scruddy and a couple of mounting screws are missing. There’s a little crack where the heel meets the body, which makes me wonder if it gets bigger under string tension... And there are lots of random dings, which maybe I don’t care about. Soft plastic saddle with gouges that will also need replacing. So the primary mission is just to get this playable in time for a trip to Okinawa in mid-March. I’m pretty confident it’s gonna sound like ca-ca anyway but if it sounds a bit like a guitar, it’ll be good enough to drag to the beach and mess with on the tour bus, and it’s definitely small enough to lug along.
