One of the perks of working in a high school is that lots of kids leave stuff behind when they graduate, and sometimes it’s music gear. Case in point: the Tiny Boy:

And yeah, that’s really its name.

It has some issues, not the least of which is the nut, which is not only plastic, but HOLLOW plastic.

Tuners are mighty scruddy and a couple of mounting screws are missing.

There’s a little crack where the heel meets the body, which makes me wonder if it gets bigger under string tension...

And there are lots of random dings, which maybe I don’t care about. Soft plastic saddle with gouges that will also need replacing.

So the primary mission is just to get this playable in time for a trip to Okinawa in mid-March. I’m pretty confident it’s gonna sound like ca-ca anyway  but if it sounds a bit like a guitar, it’ll be good enough to drag to the beach and mess with on the tour bus, and it’s definitely small enough to lug along.

Looks like it will make a fun little player when fitted with a couple bucks worth of china bone nut and saddle and a set of 12's or 13's.

Is it short scale? Hard to tell in pics.

Looks to be about a Gibby LP scale. Whole thing is about 84mm/33in. Even has a little gig bag!

Yeah, I think it will sound like crap but looks to be a great travel guitar. You might even consider throwing a pickup in it, you can do a lot to make a bad guitar sound better.

And if nothing else, give it back to someone in your high school who needs a guitar.

Wow. That name is almost a major faux pas in Japan.

    Anyway, cool looking little instrument.
