I've got two Timmys (one from 2012, one some years old, no date inside) and they both exhibit the same problem.

With the pedals engaged, all is fine. But when bypassed, one is completely dead while the other has only the occasional faint crackling of signal. Opening the case reveals no obvious break in the wiring or scorch marks.

Certainly, part of the glory of a Timmy is that you can leave it on the whole time and just ride your guitar's volume knob which I did last gig...but I'd like to be able to turn it off for clean-clean tone as I set my Timmys for some mild breakup at 11am on the Gain knob.

    Anybody else experience this...?

The footswitches probably need a cleaning. It's a common problem with those types of switches.

Footswitch +1. They all fail, eventually.

A quick squirt of switch cleaner (*not* WD40) into the footswitch (between the moving 'button' and the collar), then press the switch on and off a few times should do it.

...worth doing this with the pedal out of the signal chain.

If this doesn't work, it's most likely time for a new switch.
