I haven’t been doing nothing fancy. Actually, I hate myself. I won’t hide my problems behind a smoke screen of telling how I ”just enjoy premium whiskies”. A booze is a booze, no matter the price label.

Nothing wrong with being a little self-indulgent during this period of stoic withdrawal from almost everything.

Right around 12 yrs ago I used to go over to a buddy’s house for periodic record swaps/listening parties.

Guy had a great stocked bar, he and his wife were in various “liquor clubs” and he always had something interesting to drink.

One night he showed me three unopened bottles that he wanted us to try and then give our feelings on.

Pappy Van Winkle 15, PVW 20, and some small batch specialty PVW I can’t remember the name of.

    The 15 was the winner.

Spectacular. As good a brown liquid I’ve ever had.

20 was too tamped-down flavor-wise and the other one - well, we were too tamped-down ourselves by the time we got to that one...

Those bottles would be worth way more than he paid for them now but I’m sure glad he opened them.

I hear you. I can't write a song either. Like why the f did I spend so much time and money on this stupid hobby? I suck!

At least I have a cool little 3 year old boy, who never would have been born had i not impressed his mom with some noodling (playing guitar, perverts).

Looks like you got a cool pooch to enjoy the scotch with. Cheers!

A few drops of water to open it up is my preference.

I got a rare bottle of single malt. Trying to find a way to sell it since I don't drink. Bottled in '87 I believe. I tried to sell it to a Scotsman that is living here, but he said he could buy many bottles of Highland Park for what I am selling it for. :D I even gave him a big discount. I want to use the funds to buy a guitar. :)

That's a rare whisky! Probably worth over $1,000 if you can find a well-heeled Scotch lover...

My Bulgarian wife's cousin Cho Cho (that lives in Germany) has a very good selection of Laphroaig that he'd never opened. While there for his sister's wedding last fall he was very happy to have an American to try and impress so he and I, along with the Syrian groom to be and a German guy, started lining up shots and went at it. We went through about 10 and they'd had enough. The German and Syrian started having half shots after the first 4. Cho Cho hung with me until the end and we had a great time.

Four Roses is absolutely one of my faves. I just finished a rather long post about Manhattans in another thread and I forgot to mention Four Roses.
