Thoughts on these pickups please?

Hi all,
I am considering doing something with a body I have. I have the following pickups on my radar as they all seem to get good reviews and are within my budget. I was keen to get thoughts on them from users here. For example do you like them as a neck and bridge set, or prefer to mix and match? Is the neck or bridge of one model particularly good? I play jazz and twanging alt country so like a crisp snappy bridge and a jazzy warm neck. Less into sounding like Keith Richards (although I love him!).

- '58 American Vintage
- '52 American Vintage
- Tex Mex
- '51 Nocasters
- Twisted Teles
- Broadcaster

Thanks in advance!

EDIT I should have said I have a Tele with Tex Mex and like them but keen to see how they rate compared to the other suggestions and in combination:)

But, seriously, I think any of those mentioned would do well with a rig that produces the sound you like. I'd go with a balanced set and wire it up with a 4 way switch to get a variety of two pickup sounds.

Of the ones you've listed that I've used are the Nocasters and the Twisted Tele.

I kept the Nocasters, and I really like them.

I suspect all the ones you listed would be good though, so it's really hard to choose.

Great advice. None of those are crappola. I haven't tried all of those but I have had the Tex Mex and liked them until I had a nocaster bridge and Twisted Tele neck. It a very potent combination.

Thanks for the info everyone!

Would all of these work with a four way switch and possibly an S1 mod? Not sure what I should look out for as far as wiring goes or can all be modded as are?

All will work with a 4-way. You will probably need to separate the cover from the coil ground and add a ground wire for the cover, but that’s easy assuming you can solder. You will probably like the 4-way.

That’s about as complicated as I would go if it was mine. S1 gives too many choices IMO, hard to deal with on a gig. At home, you have time to pick and choose and make mistakes.

I'd go with a low or moderate output set and concentrate on pot values and taper, treble bleed or not, and cap value. Consider a super switch to give you the 5 base tones that are most useful for you, personally. I don't think the actual pickups matter that much, other than staying away from hot sets or any that have an exaggerated distinctive tone.

have no fear.. all that you have suggested are excellent...

as Spock would have said, Rock long, and prosper... but watch out for the Drummer 'cause at the end of the first set, he's gonna stumble over any guitar that between him and the bar....
