I'm in the local Sam Ash this morning getting shipping boxes and pull this down off the wall. It's a 2000 Fender Powerhouse Strat at a decent price, $399. What's odd about it? There was only ONE pick guard screw holding the guard on and the rest were in a bag. WTF?

I would sure take a peek under the pickguard before buying it. Who knows what's under it!!!

Perhaps some potential buyers want to see the guts before buying and this speeds up the process...??

Someone swapped the pick guard and was too lazy in big of a hurry to replace the new one properly.

That looks like the stock pickguard on a Powerhouse Strat. I think there's a battery box on the back. Maybe the guitar had an electrical issue or fiddled with the electronics and the store didn't want to deal with it.

It's stock and yes I lifted up the guard as much as I could to make sure. They said they'd take 10% off but I wasn't really looking to buy anyway. I really like that model though and especially that color.

Looks like a return. I've seen them going for about $400 on Reverb and elsewhere.

Nice if you like the12db mid boost,

I’ve had a bunch of these and thought 400 was a little high but I did a quick search of completed listings on eBay and it seems that’s pretty much on the money if not a little bit low.

    .

Most likely: Potential buyer wanted to verify 'all original' and after looking under the hood saw some scary stuff and ran. Store staff decided it was too much effort to put the screws where they went and so much easier to find a bag and the zip-tie and ...

I had one of those in the exact same color and PG.

I just could not tame it enough to do P&W Church music, it would just peel the paint off the wall even with the mid boost boosted.

There is a mid boost and a dummy coil. This is not my picture but one I pulled off the interwebs.

I am sure if I was going to buy this I would want to inspect the wiring and make sure those bits are there. All you can see from the battery cover is the battery tray and the leads to the board.

They probably figure there's a good 90% chance of a buyer wanting to get rid of that pearloid guard.
