You know those metal grommet things that you put wood screws through, like on a back panel of a Blackface cabinet?

They are kind of like a metal collar that sits between the tolex and the head of the screw?

What are those called? Can I get them at a hardware/big box store? I forgot to order them for my new project, and I don't want to pay shipping on something that costs less than $0.10.

Finish washers is what they say on my package. I've heard em called a few things, like celeste mentioned. They should have em in your hardware store.

I've had more than a few choice names for 'em, but I can't use any of 'em here.

"Screw cups" are the the funny shaped washers that take a counter-sunk screw onto a flat surface e.g. mirrors. Trim washers or dressing washers would be decorative but flat. Available from all good hardware stores.

Every man had a good name for 'e, but we'll not use 'em when in company.

"Finish washers" are available in bags at Lowe's or Home Depot. Stainless is usually pretty close in color to nickel, or you might find nickel. I get hardware from McFeeley's (which is pretty much a screw catalog - make up your own jokes - but they have some good tools and they carry Klingspoor sandpapers).

When you take the screws off a Tolex amp, never trust that the washer is going to stay stuck on the vinyl. Pry it off and hold onto it for reassembly, or it will get lost (ask me how I know that).
