This solo and this guitar player should really get more credits.

Lenny Kravitz has written some very nice songs and some that i really don't like at all, same thing for the albums, he is an intersting musician anyway.

Since the first time i've heard this song many many years ago i fell in love with the solo, also the song is very beautiful to me, great guitar sounds in it, but the guitar solo is so good...

Craig Ross is a guitarist that has a really good taste to me, unfortunately not much known.

If you have nothing better to do tell me what you think.

    The solo starts at 2.55

Very derivative.....and from sources I don't much care for in the first place. I don't HATE it, but there are way too many better songs available. Sorry.....

I really liked his first 2 records back in the day. Much of them still hold up.

This is unrelated but after not seeing a music video since 1998 (moved out and never got cable) – after that long absence, is it just me, or do all music videos just look ridiculous?
As a teen, I loved them – they were a window into the music scene in a pre-internet world. I've not come across many that age well. Not slamming Lenny in particular here at all.

Maybe he's just not that much known because of his role in the band. I've also heard that Lenny is very particular about what he wants...that's what Gail Ann Dorsey said. Something along the lines of he wrote all the parts, bass included and that's how he wants it played. No Doubt Ross is a top notch player but with a frontman as charismatic as Lenny he gets overshadowed.

Craig Ross has done some great work with Patty Griffin as well.

I appreciate that he kept it clean. Sounds pure Tele to me.

There are a lot of great sidemen that don't get enough recognition. Keith Scott on the first few Bryan Adams albums is another one, and Darryl Stuermer on Jean Luc Ponty's Imaginary Voyage album blew my mind, to name just two more. And it makes me sad that Joe and Timmy have been relegated to that in the Eagles, no matter how wealthy it's made them.

I liked that song when it came out. Haven't heard it in years but still sounds ok.
Has a Beatles thing going on. Most of his songs sound like rearrangements of older cool songs. The solo sounds decent although pretty generic.

Thanks Chunk....you basically said the same things I did, but in a much "nicer", forgiving way. I need to take diplomacy lessons from you. (bet nobody ever said THAT before, huh?) :)

Yes, probably that kind of vibrato / leslie like effect.

It does sound like something else that I can’t quite put my finger on; I’m not sure if that makes it derivative or genius. The solo is fine.
Kravitz played some festival that I saw his set from on the TV last year and it was a lot more ‘rock’ than his ‘pop’ recordings, if that makes any sense. Lot of energy for a man famous enough to get away with dialling it in.

I'm rarely referred to as a role model for diplomacy but I can see some similarities.:)

I think the solo has some very interesting phrases.
