In fact...I think that most of the early stuff (Chronic Town, Murmur) is pretty much ALL Tele...

Neil Young played a tele on the "tonight's the night" album, and I've seen him with one live on rare occasion.

How about Jerry Garcia playing some of the dead's more country tinged songs. Example.... Big river, el paso, Cumberland blues, Mexicali blues, etc

Zappa sitting in with Pink Floyd, 1969. He's using David Gilmours Telecaster.

What would you pay to see a concert like that? :D

Thanks... I just spit my coffee out, laughing over this. That's perhaps the biggest reason why I hate going to GC...

I'd pay good money to see that!

But, in reality.. I don't much care what instrument people play as long as they can PLAY it.

I learned on this site that Jerry played a tele on the studio version of Cumberland Blues. I don't if he did on any others. And I respectfully disagree with the other poster about his tone going down the tubes when he switched to Tiger. :) but I suppose that's neither here nor there with respect to teles.

Are you talking about them playing a standard stock telecaster, or just appear with a guitar in a shape of telecaster?
Because, I can see these 2 with the tele, doing their thing. After all, it's a pick ups/humbuckers and effect that we will hear after all.

That would be good to see... I know I saw a couple shows where Bobby was playing a Tele and he sang a lot of those old country tunes. I'd like to hear Jerry playing a Tele straight through on say Railroad Blues or New Speedway Boogie :D

Proof that ANY guitar in that mans hands was pure magic...

    For me:
-David Gilmour (he played a Tele though, I've seen pictures of him doing it)
-SRV (obviously he played one too, so cross that one off the list ;) )
-Jimmi (he played one as well a couple of times esp. in recording sessions)

SO I guess you could say I really just wish I had been there to SEE them play said Tele's aye ;)

    Cheers

    Dave

Does it balance things out when I pull a BC Rich off the wall in GC and play Ted Greene's arrangement of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' on it? :D Because I'll do that. On a clean channel, obviously, but really loud. And then shout "this thing f-ing SHREDS!"

I'd like to hear Zakk Wylde whip out those chicken pickin' licks on a real slab of wood! A Telecaster!
