This man raised an opossum. Now he thinks they are smarter than dogs.

We had a few possums when we lived in Meridian but when we moved back to N Tx they weren’t around much. Some friends two blocks away has a family under their house but we never had an issue

We feed a few feral housecats on our roof-covered deck. There’s a clan of 4 moderately friendly ones (they come ~3 times a day) and a couple who come occasionally. If they haven’t eaten all the cat food after dark, often we will be visited by Jim the possum. One of the cats will sometimes play with Jim’s hairless pink tail while he eats.

I wouldn't know if they are smart or not. If they come over a fence into a yard that reeks of dog pee and poop and has two 70lb dogs running around and they think they won't be dead in 30 seconds, how smart can they be?

They eat 1000 ticks a day.
If the dogs kill them, uh, fair enough!

We have skunks and raccoons here as rabies carriers...the opossums apparently have a lower body temperature and are not as apt to be carriers.
