Just wondering, i want to build some amps for fun, but i don't know where to start. are there really simple amps that i could do? i've done some soldering here and there, so soldering is not that big of a deal for me.

I should have paid more attention during electronics class in grade 8.

Howdy Blank, you might want to start off with building some pedals. A lot of the web sites for DIY pedals also explain electrical components (what they do and how you use them). Once you get the hang of that, then you can graduate up to an amp kit.

    Two good places to start...

A couple places I would take a look at. The AX84 website has some great first time projects and a great primer. Boozehound Labs has an excellent primer, gives a good explanation of how to use the data sheets and stuff. You can find that here

The Guitar Amp Handbook: Understanding Amplifiers and Getting Great Sounds by Dave Hunter.
has an amp kit to build in the back of the book.

I agree. This book was the spark I needed to build my amp. Then I relied on the help of folks from here to get it finished properly.
