Pretty cool, i dunno about their theory that the rout is factory, they weren't exactly breaking new ground with this model and the Tele had been in production for 9 years at this point.

For a guitarist of my ability (nothing special) that would be wasted on me. Besides that, i just can't muster up any enthusiasm for the vintage thing.

As I said, when you're as average as I am, a guitar is pretty much a guitar is a guitar.

Nah, I just click on New Posts and then give my opinion where it's rarely needed.

Yeah, that rout is pretty sketchy. Still a nice guitar, though.

I've got a '68 Custom that would probably pull down that much if I was ever to sell it. Not gonna do that, though. :)

I love vintage instruments, and more power to those that can afford them, but unless I had money leaking out of every orifice of my body, I wouldn't spend $16k on a guitar.

well, the fellow can play; and he does switch to exhibit that the guitar still has the original wiring....that bassy sound in the #3 position proves that.
As far as the rout and the finish, I could never be convinced that the story is accurate. Imho, that guitar’s body has been messed with.

But you can discern the difference between a great guitar and a mediocre or subpar one, can’t you?

Most guitar players would consider me an average or below guitarist, I guess, but I still love guitars and can appreciate well made ones. It’s not wasted on anybody if you can afford it and it makes you happy.

Like most of us I’d love to have that guitar, but for the same outlay you could have several fine axes

I picked up a used Gilchrist mandolin at Carter's in Nashville and played two chords. Best sounding instrument I have ever played. Looked at the price tag. 22K. Put it back quickly but very carefully.

It makes the Fender Custom Shop version of the same guitar an absolute bargain basement special at $3750.

The demos on the Bernunzio website are typically like that. They don't have Andy or Phil X working in the shop.

This is a dream guitar model for me. I can live with guitars that have been routed etc if people are honest about it. Instead we are told "we theorise" and "we suspect" to explain something that seems to have a pretty obvious, much simpler explanation.

I'd never be willing to spend $16k on a guitar either, but it's pretty cheap compared to a certain 1959 Gibson model! o_O

    Beautiful guitar though!
Btw, I think the current asking prices for these is closer to 30k, without the hack job routing...

At 69, every time I see something like that...I take a deep breath and think to myself I'll just keep playing my '69 and let my girls deal with the "value" later, because an instrument is meant to be played not horded...imho.
