I can see why Vai likes him. They're kinda shreddy similar. I'm not a big shreddy kinda guy.

There are tons of people doing this kind of gig nowadays & yes this kid would play circles around me anyday, but i'd prob have walked home from this show.

That guy's got a lot of talent and his music is what Vai would like. Not my taste though as I am an old guitar man who rarely uses affects even though I have a few pedals and a Boss Katana that does quite a bit- I still prefer the pure sound of my Princeton.

" ... best talented musician in the world" might be a step too far.

Mind you, he is very talented.

My favorite thing he does is ask people to sing anything into their phones (video) and submit them. He will take them and arrange harmonies that are amazing to add to them sometimes harmonizing kids crying, people talking etc. He can take some truly cringe worthy stuff and make it cool.

Jacob Collier is extremely talented, no question about it. Herbie Hancock is a fan as well. He's a brilliant arranger with a fantastic sense of harmony and harmonic motion. I'll be very interested in whether he endeavors to become a mass appeal songwriter.

Incredibly skilled and facile. I might like to go see him perform ONCE.....but I'd never want to buy a recording. (in any format) The performers I listen to repeatedly play "songs". I envision this guy doing movie soundtracks and things like that. I wish him everything he desires.

He does standard piano jazz stuff... not just the geeky stuff.

    Jazzers like him..

Got whatever Steeley Dan had when it comes to chords and harmony

I'd guess he is quite capable of only doing songs. And I wouldn't listen twice probably of the same reason you statedd. I'd think just songs would bore this guy. what about this nojazzhere?

Again, interesting, clever, and extremely well executed.....just not my "bag". I'm guessing he toned everything down for the NPR Music Tiny Desk format. There's no disputing the guy's talent. There are MANY other unbelievably talented performers that I just don't care a lot for.....that's why they make chocolate AND vanilla ice cream. ;) Thanks for posting this, teleman1.

Definitely good at what he does but too much is too much. Like getting into a brand new vehicle and you're looking at a steering wheel full of buttons (distractions).
I realize technology ain't going away but I hope to soon hear the term "tasteful technology".

    Immensely talented.
Hope he finds a market for his product.
It's easy for geniuses to go over the heads of average people, which he could easily do. He'll need a good producer to keep him down to earth.
