And I thought the truss rod cover trumped the pickguard and headstock logo on my Sheraton II. Thank heavens for CL-ipedia

He's right, and obviously addressing some people on CL who try to pass Epiphones off as real Gibsons. Good for him.

I had an epi with a gibson cover. Now it is a Toriginal with a Gibson cover.

I actually understand where this is coming from. Every day in my city there are over 200 CL postings and almost every epiphone is posted as a gibson or "gibson epiphone' which clogs up search results and makes things a royal PITA.

Then there's the whole Fender Squier Affinity fiasco.

CL is full of ads for Gibson Epiphone Les Pauls and Fender Squier Stratocasters. So what? If you don't know the difference, you shouldn't be shopping.
    Caveat Emptor, baby.

It's the same here too and can be confusing to new guys. Kinda' like Beetle by Porsche, drives great!

I missed posting a different one yesterday. A guy was selling "Steeve Rae's" (sic) first guitar and had a pic of a newer Harmony parlor size acoustic for $200.
I can't find the ad so I'm guessing somebody scooped it up to flip so they could buy one of those "What is and what should never be" guitars!

But.....if you replaced the truss rod cover of a Gibson with Epiphone would that count? Just wondering

It sounds like that incident really burned him. There's got to be a reason he's so firm in his determination to get this information out. He must have paid high and then, when he tried to sell it...

    Just my $0.05...

Do people who own Gibsons hate Epiphones?
