    Hey,

I’m a new user and wondering could you help me out? I could definitely use some solid eyes and knowledge on this.

I have a chance to pick up a Partcaster Tele for 400e here in Ireland. The previous price for the guitar was almost triple that on reverb.

Heres the ad I’m buying from:

    https://www.adverts.ie/24500020

Here is the ad of same guitar but on reverb.com where it was bought by current owner

    https://reverb.com/item/40807613-fe...are&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=40807613

Is there anyone who could possibly help me verify this guitar as legit ?

Is it too good to be true?

Any help on this much appreciated and thanks for helping a new member out

    Hinky,
the reverb ad doesn't even reference the 'partscaster' stuff from the other ad

The partscaster price is more in line with the value. Whoever was trying to sell it as an AVRI for 1650 is the faker.

that being said, that body isn’t a fender. the control route is wrong (why is it square?). if he won’t let it go for 400e he’s a schmuck. For a little more it’s worth it to buy a MIM and not take a chance on some cheapo Chinese ebay stuff dressed up in fender hardware.

Yup, fake. Best not to support people selling fakes.

Yeah... the neck looks fake too, it’s got the right paper on it but it looks funny up by the nut, as in there’s too much rosewood past the nut

    Stay away

All I had to see was the headstock....
Beyond being a fake in the Reverb ad...I've never seen a neck like that. It's probably a $50-$75 neck off of Ali-Baba.

Yeah that headstock has my gut feeling screaming "FAKE"

the transition from rosewood to maple looks bad, the shape looks bad and the decal is the worst.

    Very fake.

The headstock has marks where other tuner bushings were. The tuners are all misaligned because vintage tuners are actually spaced a little closer than the spacing on the headstock. Those Kluson tuners are aftermarket. The fretboard should have white dots not pearl, unless it is supposed to be after 1963 and then the rosewood would be curved and not slab.

Strap button is pointing away from neck instead of towards it.

Those are aftermarket pickups, aftermarket pickguard, aftermarket saddles, knobs…

Even the bridge looks fake, which is pretty sad because a real Fender bridge is cheap.

Let me add that a Squier Affinity or Bullet is a better value, every day and in every way.
