    From the mighty Merle Haggard with assistance from Clint Strong etc. I can so hear Lynyrd Skynyrd doing this song too. Yeah, them days are over but I can dream.

    Plenty of room to solo...and you get to say "drink" in so many different ways!

    I think this song, especially the recorded version, has some of the very best of the best soloing. It's so diverse sounding and the latter soloing is unbelievably good.

    It's pretty sparse on lyrics, like what, two verses, and not a proper chorus to speak of...I love how it gets all dixieland

    One of my all time faves when I'm playing a honkytonk gig

    Roy Nichols was friggin’ great. I hear him when I listen to Ed King and Stevie Gaines pick with that clean Fender tone. And remember on Skynyrd’s version of Honky Tonk Night Time Man when Ronnie yells “Sounds like Roy!” He knew.
